الصداع هو عبارة عن ألم في أي منطقة من مناطق الرأس. وقد يكون الصداع على جانب واحد من الرأس أو على كلا الجانبين، أو قد يكون معزولاً في مكان محدد من الرأس، أو ينتشر عبر الرأس ابتداءً من نقطة واحدة، أو يكون له ميزة ملزمة القبض.

وقد يكون الصداع على شكل ألم حاد أو أحساس نبضي أو وجع كليل. يُمكن أن يتطور الصداع تدريجياً أو بشكل مفاجىء، وقد يستغرق الصداع بين أقل من نصف ساعة إِلى عدة أيام.
