تُعد إصابة العضلات (الإجهاد) أو التواؤها من المسببات الشائعة لحدوث ألم الظهر. يمكن أن تَحدث حالات الإجهاد والالتواء لعديدٍ من الأسباب، بما فيها رفع الأحمال بصورة غير سليمة، ووضعية الجسم غير السليمة، وعدم ممارسة التمارين الرياضية بانتظام. وقد يَزيد الوزن الزائد من تعرُّضكَ للإصابة بحالات الإجهاد أو الالتواء، مما يؤثر في ظهركَ.

كما يمكن أن يَنتج ألم الظهر أيضًا عن التهاب المفاصل وغير ذلكَ من التغيرات المتعلقة بتقدُّم العمر في العمود الفقري، ومن الإصابات الأشد خطورة، مثل كسور الفقرات أو تمزُّق الأقراص، ومن حالات عدوى معينة.

تتضمن أسباب ألم الظهر المحتملة الآتي:

  16. الجنف (ميلان جانبي في العمود الفقري)
