يُعاني الجميع تقريباً بين الحين والآخر من ألم ووجع عضلي. وقد يؤثر الوهن العضلي على منطقة صغيرة أو يشمل الجسم بأكمله ويتباين بين خفيف إلى مُبرِّح.

وعلى الرغم من أن أغلب الآلام والأوجاع العضلية تزول من تلقاء ذاتها خلال فترة زمنية قصيرة فقد يدوم الألم العضلي في بعض الأحيان لأشهر. يمكن أن ينشأ الوهن العضلي في أي مكان في الجسم تقريباً بما في ذلك الرقبة والظهر والساقين، بل حتى في اليدين.
