Dr. Basar Sareyyupoglu is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, specializing in advanced cardiac surgery, minimally invasive valve surgery, complex aortic reconstruction, heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.
With more than 20 years of experience, he cares for patients with heart valve disease, coronary artery disease, heart failure, heart arrhythmias requiring surgical treatment, and complex aortic disorders, including thoracic aortic aneurysm.
Dr. Sareyyupoglu has particular expertise in minimally invasive mitral and aortic valve surgery for patients with mitral valve disease, aortic valve disease and
tricuspid valve disease.
As a member of Mayo Clinic's Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support programs, Dr. Sareyyupoglu provides advanced surgical therapies for patients
with end-stage heart failure and cardiogenic shock, including heart transplantation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), ventricular assist devices (VADs), and other forms of mechanical circulatory support. He also performs minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for appropriately selected patients with coronary artery disease.
"My goal extends beyond performing a successful operation," says Dr. Sareyyupoglu. His academic interests include minimally invasive valve surgery, complex aortic reconstruction, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and innovations that improve long-term patient outcomes.
