  • Individualized approach. Mayo Clinic care professionals in the Heart Rhythm Clinic talk with you about the different types of heart rhythm monitoring available. Together, you and your healthcare team choose one that's best for you.
  • Latest technology. Many different heart-monitoring devices are available at Mayo Clinic. Some are wireless, so your healthcare team can get your electrocardiogram (ECG) results without you going to the medical office. Results usually go into your medical record right away. Mayo Clinic helped develop and was among the first to use a program called mobile cardiac outpatient telemetry. You wear a heart monitor device while you do your daily activities at home. It checks your heartbeat day and night. Your healthcare team can continuously watch for any changes in your heart rate and rhythm while you're away from a medical office.
  • ECG heart test interpretation service. Mayo Clinic's Heart Rhythm and Physiological Monitoring Laboratory in Rochester, Minnesota, offers high-quality readings, called interpretations, of ECG results for adults, adolescents and children. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In urgent situations, ECG readings are available within minutes.
  • Innovative research. Researchers at Mayo Clinic continue to study ways to use artificial intelligence (AI) with electrocardiograms (ECG) to help find heart disease. For example, they are using AI and ECGs to better find a type of irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation (AFib). Researchers in Mayo Clinic's Cardiovascular Research Center also study new techniques for and uses of electrocardiography.

Mayo Clinic doctors trained in heart rhythm conditions, called electrophysiologists, and nationally certified heart rhythm analysis professionals in the Heart Rhythm and Physiological Monitoring Laboratory interpret results at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota.
