- Advanced gastrointestinal surgery: Expertise in procedures for challenging abdominal cancers requiring multidisciplinary care.
Research and Education
Dr. Warner's research program centers on the use of oncolytic (cancer-killing) viruses for patients with advanced cancers, reflecting her commitment to finding new options for those with limited alternatives. She also studies the biopsychosocial journey patients and families experience during cancer surgery, aiming to improve outcomes beyond the operating room.
Her training includes a general surgery residency at Mayo Clinic Arizona, a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City, and a clinical fellowship in Hepatopancreatobiliary and Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery at the University of Michigan.
Before returning to Mayo Clinic in 2021, Dr. Warner spent six years at City of Hope in California, where she advanced surgical and scientific programs and mentored future surgical oncologists.
Raised in Texas, Dr. Warner now enjoys life in cooler climates and welcomes winter sport recommendations. Outside of work, she spends time with her husband and two young children, enjoying activities like hiking, camping, exercising, and baking.
