Biographical summary
Dr. Vishu Avutu is a medical and pediatric oncologist who specializes in caring for people with soft tissue and bone sarcomas — rare cancers that affect individuals of any age and develop almost anywhere in the body. As part of a multidisciplinary sarcoma team, he believes every patient deserves care that is not only personalized and evidence-based, but also compassionate and easy to understand. He knows that a cancer diagnosis can turn life upside down. His goal is to help patients and families navigate that uncertainty with clear communication, thoughtful guidance, and a treatment plan tailored to their needs, priorities, and goals.
Dr. Avutu's research focuses on developing new therapies for sarcomas and expanding treatment options. He leads collaborative research efforts aimed at improving outcomes, reducing treatment-related side effects, and making clinical trials more meaningful for patients. With a special interest in adolescents and young adults with cancer, Dr. Avutu understands that cancer affects far more than physical health. He is committed to helping patients move through treatment with confidence, knowing they have a dedicated team beside them every step of the way.
Cancer isn’t supposed to be part of your story, which is why he will strive to make sure it doesn't define it.
