Biographical summary
Daniel B. Maselli, M.D., is a board-certified physician in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and obesity medicine and has formal training in advanced endoscopy. His expertise is in metabolic and bariatric endoscopy: non-surgical procedures for obesity and related conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease. These tools, which include endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) and bariatric surgery revisions, help patients lose weight, stop medications, and live longer, healthier, more active lives. As a field leader, Dr. Maselli regularly contributes to expert panels on endobariatric techniques, lectures at scientific meetings, and teaches other doctors how to perform these state-of-the-art procedures.
Dr. Maselli’s research focuses on innovation within the minimally-invasive field of metabolic and bariatric endoscopy. He studies how we can endoscopically address hormonal pathways of appetite control and metabolism, such as ablation of the gastric (stomach) fundus and the small intestine. Mayo’s emphasis on discovery and collaboration help Dr. Maselli and his colleagues investigate these tools and tailor them to the individual patient, making them more effective, safer, and more durable.
Dr. Maselli is honored to serve the many patients from all around the world who put their trust in Mayo for its excellence in clinical care.
