Andrew W. Hoel, M.D., is a vascular surgeon in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery in Rochester, Minnesota, where he serves as the Surgical Director of the Mayo Clinic Aortic Center. He cares for people with the full spectrum of vascular disease, with a special focus on complex conditions of the aorta and its branches. Dr. Hoel is deeply committed to clinical care tailored to each individual’s needs and he values effective and individualized communication with patients and their families.

His academic background includes medical school at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, general surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and fellowship training in vascular surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Before joining Mayo Clinic, Dr. Hoel served as Associate Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, where he directed the Aortic Program in Vascular Surgery and led outcomes and quality improvement initiatives.
