Biographical summary
Nahid Y. Vidal, M.D., F.A.A.D., F.A.C.M.S., is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and cutaneous oncologist with subspecialty expertise in skin cancer treatment and complex facial reconstruction. She completed her undergraduate at Stanford University, medical school at University California Davis School of Medicine, Dermatology Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, and Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship at Mayo Clinic (Rochester). As the former Director of Resident Dermatologic Surgery Education, she remains heavily involved in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Vidal previously served as Division Chair in Dermatologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic. She is a principal investigator for several clinical and multi-disciplinary studies pertaining to skin cancer and dermatologic surgery, with special interests including rare and complex cutaneous tumors, immunohistochemistry for Mohs surgery, and innovation/artificial intelligence.
Dr. Vidal is a Board-certified Fellow of the American Board of Dermatology, and Board-certified in the subspecialty of Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery.
Vidal's clinical focus includes:
- Dermatologic surgery including Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, and other rare cutaneous tumors
- Complex reconstruction of facial wounds following Mohs surgery to restore function and optimize aesthetic outcome
- Excisional surgery for lipomas, cysts, and other benign tumors
- Procedures including rhinophyma correction, scar revision, keloid treatment, electrosurgery, upper blepharoplasty, neurotoxin injection for hyperhidrosis, dermabrasion noninvasive suture lift of aging skin, and liposuction
- Laser and light-based treatments
- Nail procedures such as biopsy, excision, avulsion, matrixectomy
