My name is Peter Pollak, I am an interventional and structural cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. I approach diagnosis first by talking to the patient and listening to what they've experienced, because that's the best diagnostic tool I have at my disposal is a good history.

The more involved that patients are in their own care, the more that they are participating in understanding their disease condition, their symptoms, the better their outcome will be. The best thing about my specialty is getting to ask patients after a treatment do they feel better. And when they say yes-- I can now walk across the room, I can breathe again, I can take a deeper breath-- that is what drives me to keep going.
