Maher A. Baz, M.D.

Hello. My name is Maher Baz, I am the head of the lung transplant, the division here at Mayo Clinic. My focus and our divisions practice is patients with advanced lung diseases. I decided to become a doctor because I really was inclined toward the sciences growing up. And I really wanted to help people. And I felt that medicine combines the scientific curiosity with helping people. Mayo Clinic's model of care is really a collaboration and consensus. I ask colleagues within my specialty, they might see from a different point of views will bring colleagues from another specialty. I'm sure they'll give us point of view from their specialty. So you can get, can look at a same issue from different angles. Personally, for me, this model gives me a chance to learn, unlearn and relearn as we go forward. And I've been in this field 30 years. I'm very impressed with Mayo Clinic in, in how physicians collaborate to really look at the patient's 360 degrees to make the best decision. And by the institution, the resources they devote toward that goal. In this patient-centric, we have to do what's best for the patients.
