Mayo Clinic’s High School Student Summer Volunteer Program provides students with the opportunity to gain volunteer experience in both clinic and hospital settings. The nine-week program runs from Monday, June 1 through Friday, July 31, 2026.
Note that we have received the maximum number of applications for the 2026 Student Summer Volunteer Program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona and are not accepting additional applicants.

While clinical shadowing is not part of the program, volunteers gain exposure to the healthcare environment through service assignments involving both patient and non-patient interactions. The program ultimately supports Mayo Clinic staff and patients.
Schedule and time commitment
- Volunteers serve one four-hour shift per week, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours.
- Additional shifts may be offered based on availability and Volunteer Services’ discretion.
- Volunteers may not exceed 12 hours per week.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must:
- Be 15 to 18 years old as of May 1, 2026.
- Not yet be enrolled in college.
- Commit to the full nine-week program (June 1 to July 31, 2026).
- Attend a mandatory in-person interview.
- Attend the mandatory in-person orientation.
Application requirements
Applicants must:
- Complete and sign all application documents (student and parent/guardian).
- Provide current immunization records:
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Covid-19 (if available; not required)
- Influenza (if available; not required)
- Complete an Occupational Health visit (at Mayo Clinic's expense) to screen for negative tuberculosis and MMR/Varicella immunity.
- Attend all mandatory dates and meet program expectations.
Application process
Applications will be reviewed and accepted based on the following:
- Must be available for the entire nine-week program.
- Completed applications must be received electronically by 4:00 p.m., Mountain Time, Monday, February 16, 2026.
o Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
- Submission does not guarantee placement.
- Applicants selected to move forward will receive an email invitation for an in-person interview.
Post orientation requirements
After orientation, all students must attend an in-person service area training at either the Scottsdale or Phoenix campus.
Verification of hours
Upon successful completion of the program, volunteers will receive a report confirming their total hours, service dates and assigned service area.
