Biographical summary
Erika D. Driver-Dunckley, M.D., F.A.A.N., is a neurologist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, specializing in movement disorders, Parkinson's disease, atypical parkinsonisms, essential tremor, and dystonia. She treats a broad range of movement disorders, including early-onset Parkinson's disease, functional movement disorders, Huntington's disease, ataxia, myoclonus, chorea and hemifacial spasm.
Dr. Driver-Dunckley completed neurology residency training at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, followed by fellowship training in movement disorders at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Her expertise includes comprehensive evaluation and treatment of movement disorders, botulinum toxin therapy for dystonia and excessive saliva, and multidisciplinary care for patients with complex neurological conditions.
Her clinical and research interests include Parkinson's disease, atypical parkinsonisms, including progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and multiple systems atrophy (MSA), along with; essential tremor, brain wellness, the epigenetics of neurodegeneration and the neuropathology of parkinsonian disorders.
Dr. Driver-Dunckley is a professor of neurology and chair of the Movement Disorders Division in the Department of Neurology. She previously served as the Neurology Residency Program Director and Movement Disorders Fellowship Program Director. She remains involved in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows and junior faculty.
As a principal investigator and co-investigator on clinical trials, Dr. Driver-Dunckley collaborates with researchers at Arizona State University and Banner Sun Health Research Institute. Her research focuses on Parkinson's disease, PSP, and essential tremor.
