I'm Matt Robertson, I'm one of the gynecologic oncologists here at Mayo Clinic, Florida in Jacksonville. What's unique about Mayo Clinic, in my opinion, is the advantages for our patients or the fact that they can be seen in a timely manner. But then we can also get the appropriate laboratory testing, radiologic testing, and then consultation with other specialties so that we can formulate a treatment plan and then hopefully restore that patient to well-being. I actually did a little bit of part-time work here while they were searching to fill the position permanently and it became clear to me that this was the modeling which I had always wanted to practice medicine. I have become somewhat frustrated in private practice where I couldn't potentially get a plastic surgeon or another consultant on a timely basis to see a patient. And after spending time here, it was clear to me that this is how I'd always wanted to practice medicine. I think all of us get into this field because we enjoy helping people first and foremost. That's why we do it. Like interpersonally as an oncologist, a surgical oncologist, if you will, I enjoy the complexity of the disease. At the end of the day, it's always about the patient. Might as well enjoy the most. You do realize how fortunate we are here to be surrounded by very talented people.
