Kevin Landolfo, M.D.

My name is Dr. Kevin Landolfo. By training, I'm a cardiothoracic surgeon. I'm privileged and honored to take care of surgical patients with complex cardiovascular disease and patients being evaluated and treated with thoracic disease requiring heart and lung transplantation. One of the hallmarks of Mayo's model of care, and our practice here, is that we really view patient care as multi-disciplinary and interspecialty. And what that means to the patients is that while the patient may be under my direct care, the patient is touched by many other important teams of physicians and surgeons and other allied health professionals during their inpatient and outpatient stay. I know that when patients and their families come to see us at Mayo Clinic, they're often confused and really looking for answers to sometimes very complicated cardiovascular problems and disease. So I start by a discussion and to help the patient and their loved one understand the disease, and what they're facing. We then talk about options, options for care, options for care for them and for their families. I may be the surgeon and the face of often what my patients see, but behind me, in and out of the operating room are people with immense skill and tremendous professionalism. And that gives me the confidence to know that we can tackle some of the most complicated and difficult situations and give our patients the best chance to recover from these challenging and difficult times they're facing.
