Wisit Cheungpasitporn, M.D., FACP, FASN, FAST is a Nephrologist in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Mayo Clinic hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Cheungpasitporn specializes in treating acute kidney failure and kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, dialysis, hypertension, kidney stones, and electrolyte abnormalities. He is certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

He received his medical degree with First Class Honors from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. He then completed an internal medicine residency training at Bassett Medical Center in New York. Afterwards, the came to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and completed Nephrology fellowship training. He also completed a postdoctoral degree in the clinical and translational science (CCaTS) program in 2015, which provided him hand-on research experience and equipped himself statistical analysis skills — especially epidemiology and clinical research. In addition, he completed Kidney Transplant fellowship training at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.

He was awarded the 2016 Donald C. Balfour Research Award, given in recognition of outstanding research as a junior scientist whose primary training is in a clinical field. His works have also been internationally recognized. Dr. Cheungpasitporn's excellence is evidenced by the fact that he has over 300 publications including peer-reviewed original articles, editorials, and reviews which have been cumulatively cited more than 3,000 times.
