Mayo Clinic doctors and scientists are actively working to improve the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma. The Melanoma and Skin Cancer Research Program at Mayo Clinic brings together a diverse group of highly skilled scientists, clinicians, allied health professionals and patient advocates who share a common goal of developing innovative approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma.

Cancer research is conducted in coordination with the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center receives funding from the National Cancer Institute and is designated as a comprehensive cancer center. This designation recognizes the institution's scientific excellence and multidisciplinary resources focused on cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
