Biographical summary
Lindsey Russell, M.D., is a board-certified gastroenterologist in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Russell has expertise in the evaluation and management of patients with Intestinal failure, short bowel syndrome, enteropathies (celiac disease, protein losing enteropathy, drug induced), and malnutrition requiring Nutrition Support. Dr. Russell is a certified nutrition support clinician (CNSC) both for enteral and parenteral nutrition and manages the placement and ongoing care for feeding tubes. Prior to joining the Mayo Clinic, she was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and clinical staff at Cleveland Clinic within the Center for Human Nutrition and Gut Rehabilitation and Transplant. She also was program director for the Nutrition Fellowship.
Dr. Russell earned her medical degree and internal medicine training from the University of Alberta in Canada, where she also obtained her master's degree in Translational Medicine. She completed her gastroenterology fellowship and clinical nutrition fellowship at McMaster University in Canada before moving to the U.S.
Her research focus is assessing objective measures of metabolism and body composition to direct nutrition support care and improving clinical outcomes in short bowel syndrome. She is heavily involved in the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition including committees and educational events. She is part of the education committee of the American College of Gastroenterology and created programs for nutrition education for GI clinicians.
