Biographical summary
Joao Pedro Matias Lopes, M.D., is a Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Allergy, Asthma, and Clinical Immunology at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. His clinical and research focus spans inborn errors of immunity, primary immunodeficiency, and food allergy. Dr. Lopes did his medical school in Lisbon, Portugal completed internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University and UH University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH, and finished allergy and immunology fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, NY.
- Chair-elect of Research for the NICER consortium and co-chair of the Clinical Immunology Society Early Career Immunology Committee
- Member of the AAAAI Primary Immunodeficiency, Adverse Reactions to Foods, and In-Training Exam committees
- Served on the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, committee on the long-term health effects of COVID-19
