Biographical summary
Jeffrey B. Geske, M.D., is a consultant in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Mayo Clinic. He is interested in noninvasive hemodynamic assessment of structural heart disease, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease and heart failure.
Dr. Geske's research has focused on multimodality assessment of cardiac pressures. His clinical focus is on patients with structural heart disease, including 3-D echocardiographic guidance of interventions. Dr. Geske's multimodality research provides better understanding of the complicated hemodynamic interactions found in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and valvular heart disease. This knowledge allows clarification of underlying pathophysiology, which then guides treatment.
Focus areas
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Geske's research in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy has explored the comparison of invasive (cardiac catheterization) and noninvasive (transthoracic echocardiography) assessment of hemodynamics, including diastolic function and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.
- Valvular heart disease. Dr. Geske has published data on hemodynamic assessment in aortic stenosis and is involved in ongoing research with regards to imaging during complex valvular interventions, including transcatheter valve replacement.
