"It is my goal as a Mayo Clinic cardiologist to help each patient understand their heart health and choose the care approach that best meets their individual needs," he says.
Areas of expertise
Dr. Geske provides thoughtful evaluation and advanced imaging for people with a range of heart conditions. His areas of expertise include:
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: Comprehensive evaluation using multimodality imaging and genetics to guide decision‑making on diagnosis, family screening, sudden death risk stratification, and treatment approaches.
- Valvular heart disease: Integration of imaging and clinical data to guide diagnosis and management of aortic valve, mitral valve, and tricuspid valve disease.
- Structural heart disease: Use of 3‑D echocardiography to assist in imaging‑guided cardiac interventions and complex hemodynamic assessments.
- Pericardial effusion: Diagnostic imaging and pericardiocentesis procedures for managing pericardial disease.
Research and expertise
Dr. Geske's research focuses on improving understanding and management of hypertrophic and valvular heart diseases through advanced imaging, hemodynamic analysis, and outcome trials. His work explores outcomes, noninvasive and invasive assessment methods, and evolving therapeutic strategies.
As a passionate educator, he helps train the next generation of cardiologists through his leadership in medical education and cardiovascular training. He holds board certifications in Cardiovascular Diseases from the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Adult Echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography. Dr. Geske completed cardiovascular disease and advanced cardiac imaging fellowships at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.
