Dr. Shehabaldin Alqalyoobi began his medical training at the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain, where he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Medicine and Medical Sciences and his Doctorate of Medicine. He then moved to the United States to complete his internal medicine residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he developed a strong clinical foundation and interest in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

He went on to pursue fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of California Davis. During this time, he gained experience in managing complex respiratory conditions, advanced critical care, and interstitial lung disease. Following fellowship, Dr. Alqalyoobi joined East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine, where he served in key roles including Director of the Interstitial Lung Disease Program and Pulmonary Clinic, as well as Assistant Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit.

Dr. Alqalyoobi’s professional interests include interstitial lung disease, critical care echocardiography, and the use of machine learning models in clinical medicine. His growing interest in research and data analysis led him to pursue further training in biostatistics, supporting his involvement in clinical trials and translational research. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and is board-certified in pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, internal medicine, and critical care echocardiography.
