Research

Mayo Clinic doctors and scientists are studying new ways to improve the diagnosis and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Mayo Clinic is recognized as a Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) for hepatobiliary cancer research, funded by the U.S. National Cancer Institute. The hepatobiliary cancer SPORE is devoted to improving the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer and bile duct cancer.

Hepatocellular carcinoma research is conducted in coordination with Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center receives funding from the National Cancer Institute and is designated as a comprehensive cancer center. This designation recognizes the institution's scientific excellence and multidisciplinary resources focused on cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
