Biographical summary
Dr. Trevanne Matthews Hew is a Senior Associate Consultant in the division of Hematology Oncology. She has been a practicing physician for over 15 years in different countries, institutions and areas of medicine. She has special interest in disparity amongst all patients groups, particularly breast and prostate cancer. Her focus goals is to one day aid in bridging the gap in health care.
Her clinical focus includes:
- Expertise in management of general oncology, such as breast, prostate and lung cancers.
- Expertise in the management of hematological malignancies, such as myeloma and chronic leukemia.
- Expertise in management of benign hematology such as sickle cell disease, anemia and coagulopathies.
- Complex coordination of care for the patients amongst all multidiscipline groups, as well as coordinating care with other hospitals and medical groups in the Jacksonville area to provide optimal care for her patients. Bringing Mayo Clinic care to a wider population.
- Promoting each patient's understanding of the route cause and genetics factors that may contribute to their disease.
In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Matthews Hew is active in research, with interest in disparity, genetics and environmental factors affecting disease. Education is a big part of her interest as well as providing mentorship to residents and fellows. She publishes in high-impact scientific journals, and presented at many educational seminars. She holds active membership with multiple educational societies, such as ACP, ASCO, ASH, and CCGOP.
