Carrie Langstraat, M.D., is a fellowship trained Gynecologic Oncologist, specializing in surgical and medical treatment of patients with gynecologic cancers and in surgery for patients at increased risk of gynecologic cancer. She is also part of a multi-disciplinary surgical team which manages patients with extensive endometriosis. Dr. Langstraat holds joint appointments in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medical Oncology. She is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology. Her clinical expertise includes treatment of:

  • Gynecologic cancer (ovarian, fallopian tube, primary peritoneal, uterine, cervical, vaginal, vulvar)
  • Complex adnexal masses
  • Large uterine masses/fibroids
  • Cancer risk reduction in BRCA carriers, Lynch syndrome
  • Gynecologic cancer treatment related fistulas — bladder, ureter, bowel
  • Gynecologic cancer related bowel obstruction
  • Recurrent gynecologic cancer
  • Surgical treatment of endometriosis as part of a multidisciplinary team

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Langstraat is active in research and education. Dr. Langstraat is the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship director at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She serves as a mentor to residents, fellows and medical students. She is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, having authored over 50 peer reviewed publications, book chapters. Her primary research focuses on the optimization of surgical outcomes in the treatment of patients with ovarian cancer.
