- Pediatric lensectomy for ectopia lentis and persistent fetal vasculature
- Macular surgery for epiretinal membranes, macular holes, vitreomacular traction, and subretinal hemorrhages
- Scleral fixation of secondary intraocular lenses for dislocated lenses or aphakia
- Retinal laser for retinal tears, Stickler syndrome, vitreoretinopathies, diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, and other retinal vascular diseases
- Inherited retinal diseases, such as achromatopsia, albinism, Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS), Best disease, choroideremia, cone-rod dystrophies, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR), retinitis pigmentosa (RP), Stargardt disease, Stickler syndrome, and X-linked retinoschisis (XLRS)
- Evaluation and management of age-related macular degeneration, Coats disease, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Scruggs teaches medical students, graduate students, residents, and fellows, and she participates in several clinical trials for inherited retinal diseases. As one of the Principal Investigators in the Mayo Retinal Regenerative Medicine Laboratory, Dr. Scruggs focuses on the optimization of gene therapy and cell-based therapy for improved safety and efficacy in patients with retinal degeneration. She is a member of the Mayo Gene Therapy Working Group.
