Biographical summary
Brendan P. Lovasik, M.D., is a board-certified abdominal transplant surgeon at the Mayo Clinic in Florida. He performs liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants, as well as complex hepatobiliary surgery. He has special research and clinical interests in transplant immunology, oncotransplantation, xenotransplantation and ex-vivo organ modification.
Dr. Lovasik completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and his medical education at Emory University School of Medicine, where he graduated with summa cum laude honors. He completed his General Surgery residency at Emory University, followed by a Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Lovasik is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Southeastern Surgical Congress, Western Surgical Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
