Fantine N. Giap, M.D.

Dr. Fantine Giap is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She specializes in the treatment of sarcoma, gynecologic cancers, thoracic and lung cancers, pediatric cancers, and other complex malignancies, with expertise in caring for patients whose cancers require highly individualized treatment planning.

Her clinical interests include sarcomas—including chondrosarcoma and chordoma—as well as cervical, endometrial, vaginal and vulvar cancers. She also has a special interest in caring for children, adolescents and young adults, recognizing that every stage of life brings unique priorities that should be reflected in a patient's treatment plan.

Dr. Giap believes that excellent cancer care begins with listening. She takes the time to understand each patient's goals, concerns and daily life so that treatment decisions are based not only on the cancer itself, but also on what matters most to the person living with it. Her approach combines thoughtful communication with meticulous treatment planning to maximize tumor control while preserving long-term function and quality of life whenever possible.

She offers the full spectrum of modern radiation therapy, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy, and proton therapy. Working alongside surgeons, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and many other specialists, she develops personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's diagnosis and overall care goals.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Giap is actively involved in research focused on improving the patient experience during and after cancer treatment. Her work centers on patient-centered outcomes research, proton therapy, brachytherapy, and innovative radiation techniques designed to improve cancer outcomes while reducing treatment-related side effects. She is also committed to expanding access to high-quality cancer care through both local and international collaborations.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Giap enjoys spending time with her husband, toddler and two dogs exploring Northeast Florida's beaches and nature parks. She is an avid runner and enjoys training for triathlons.
