Biographical summary
Thea P. Ang Price, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a general and acute care surgeon, surgical intensivist, traumatologist, burn and complex wound care physician. She is a Senior Associate Consultant for the Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic Florida with the role of Acute Care Surgeon and Director of inpatient and outpatient Wound Care. After training, she expanded the ACS and began and expanded the Wound Care service line at Rush University in Chicago, IL for 7 years. Dr. Price has clinical interests in complex acute and chronic wounds.
Dr. Price has extensive experience with advanced wound care modalities including connective tissue products, light therapy, electrical stimulation, 3D printing and treatments with a focus on tissue regeneration. Her surgical interests include emergency general surgery especially complex biliary, hernias, foregut, bowel obstructions and complex enterocutaneous fistulae. She is trained in both laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
Dr. Price manages a basic science lab with clinical translation researching the cause, prevention and treatment of ectopic or heterotopic mineralization and ossification after trauma or thermal injury. Her clinical research includes acute appendicitis (CODA trial), new wound technologies outcomes, and the development of innovative treatments for hidradenitis suppurativa.
