Thea P. Ang Price, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a general and acute care surgeon, surgical intensivist, traumatologist, and burn and wound care specialist at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She serves as Senior Associate Consultant in the Department of Surgery and directs inpatient and outpatient Wound Care.

Dr. Price specializes in complex acute and chronic wounds, traumatic injuries, burns, limb salvage and complex surgical conditions. Her expertise includes advanced wound care and tissue regeneration, with clinical interests in surgical wound complications, radiation injuries, calciphylaxis, hidradenitis suppurativa, pyoderma gangrenosum and autoimmune skin disorders. She also treats enterocutaneous fistulae, bowel obstruction, hernias and emergency general surgery conditions.

"I believe complex wounds and surgical problems require more than treating what is visible. My goal is to understand the whole patient, identify the factors that are preventing healing and bring together the right combination of expertise and innovative treatments to give each patient the best opportunity for recovery."

Dr. Price has a strong interest in surgical research and translating innovative therapies into clinical care. Her research focuses on wound healing, tissue regeneration, heterotopic ossification and emerging wound technologies.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed advanced training in general surgery, burn surgery, surgical critical care, trauma and acute care surgery at leading academic centers. She is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery and is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Price enjoys scuba diving, baking sourdough, and singing opera.
