Mayo Clinic has one of the largest and most experienced practices in the United States, with campuses in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota. Staff skilled in dozens of specialties work together to ensure quality care and successful recovery.

Research

Radiologists and scientists who have training in SPECT scans and other imaging technologies study how best to use SPECT scans. These scans are used to diagnose and monitor a wide range of conditions. They are dedicated to developing new techniques and uses for SPECT imaging.

Current clinical trials include an investigation of new combination SPECT-CT scanners called the Veriton and StarGuide systems. These systems show the potential to provide a significant gain in image quality compared with standard cameras.

Another clinical trial is evaluating the effectiveness of SPECT-CT imaging to reveal early stages of prostate cancer.
