Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest tightness
  3. diarrhea
  4. dizziness
  5. fast, slow, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  6. fever
  7. headache
  8. hives or welts, itching, or skin rash
  9. hoarseness
  10. irritation
  11. itching of the vagina or genitals
  12. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  13. nervousness
  14. pale skin
  15. pounding in the ears
  16. redness of the skin
  17. severe stomach cramps and pain
  18. sore mouth or tongue
  19. stomach tenderness
  20. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  21. thick, white vaginal discharge with mild or no odor
  22. trouble breathing or swallowing
  23. unusual bleeding or bruising
  24. unusual tiredness or weakness
  25. watery or severe diarrhea, which may also be bloody
  26. white patches in the mouth or on the tongue

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blood in the urine or stools
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. lower back or side pain
  6. painful or difficult urination
  7. pinpoint red spots on the skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Nausea

Less common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. double vision
  3. feeling of warmth
  4. feeling that you cannot keep your eyes open
  5. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  6. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  7. seeing floating spots before the eyes
  8. sore neck, shoulders, or back
  9. sore, tired, burning, or itching eyes
  10. trouble concentrating
  11. trouble sleeping
  12. vomiting
  13. watery or dry eyes
