Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. attempts at killing oneself
  3. bluish lips or skin
  4. blurred vision
  5. change in consciousness
  6. cold, clammy skin
  7. confusion
  8. darkening of the skin
  9. decrease in the frequency of urination
  10. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  11. decreased urine output
  12. depression
  13. diarrhea
  14. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  15. difficulty swallowing
  16. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  17. extra heartbeat
  18. extremely shallow or slow breathing
  19. fast, slow, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  20. fast, weak pulse
  21. fever
  22. hostility
  23. hives or welts, itching, skin rash
  24. lightheadedness
  25. loss of appetite
  26. loss of consciousness
  27. muscle twitching
  28. nausea
  29. no blood pressure or pulse
  30. not breathing
  31. overactive reflexes
  32. painful urination
  33. poor coordination
  34. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  35. rapid weight gain
  36. restlessness
  37. seizures
  38. severe sleepiness
  39. shivering
  40. stopping of the heart
  41. sweating
  42. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  43. talking or acting with excitement you cannot control
  44. tightness in the chest
  45. trembling or shaking
  46. twitching
  47. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness or feeling of sluggishness
  48. vomiting

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. constricted, pinpoint, or small pupils (black part of the eye)
  3. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  4. difficult or troubled breathing
  5. difficulty with sleeping
  6. dilated neck veins
  7. disorientation
  8. drowsiness to profound loss of consciousness
  9. extreme tiredness or weakness
  10. headache
  11. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  12. no muscle tone or movement
  13. not breathing
  14. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  15. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  16. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  17. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  18. weight gain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. absence of or decrease in body movement
  3. belching
  4. change in personality
  5. changes in vision
  6. discouragement
  7. double vision
  8. dry mouth
  9. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  10. feeling sad or empty
  11. heartburn
  12. increase in body movements
  13. indigestion
  14. irritability
  15. loss of interest or pleasure
  16. loss of memory
  17. nervousness
  18. poor insight and judgment
  19. problems with memory or speech
  20. redness of the skin
  21. seeing double
  22. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  23. sweating
  24. trouble concentrating
  25. trouble recognizing objects
  26. trouble sleeping
  27. trouble thinking and planning
  28. trouble walking
  29. twitching, twisting, uncontrolled repetitive movements of the tongue, lips, face, arms, or legs
  30. upper abdominal or stomach pain
