Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. bone or joint pain
  4. confusion
  5. constipation
  6. cracked lips
  7. diarrhea
  8. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  9. difficulty in breathing
  10. difficulty in swallowing
  11. dry eyes
  12. dry mouth
  13. fever
  14. frequent urge to urinate
  15. irregular heartbeats
  16. loss of appetite
  17. lower back or side pain
  18. mood or mental changes
  19. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  20. nausea
  21. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  22. painful irritation of the clear front part of the eye
  23. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  24. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  25. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips, tongue, or inside the mouth
  26. stomach cramps, tenderness, or pain
  27. swelling, irritation, soreness, or inflammation of the mouth
  28. tingling of the hands and feet
  29. ulceration of the skin
  30. vomiting
  31. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  32. watering of the eyes
  33. watery or bloody diarrhea
  34. weakness

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bloody stools
  3. pale skin
  4. unusual bleeding or bruising
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bluish-brownish hands
  2. change in taste
  3. difficulty in moving
  4. lack or loss of strength
  5. loss of taste
  6. muscle aches, cramps, pains, or stiffness
  7. redness or soreness around the fingernails or loosening of the fingernails
