Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  2. severe mental changes
  3. shortness of breath

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blurred vision
  3. burning while urinating
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. convulsions
  7. cough or hoarseness
  8. decreased ability to exercise
  9. depression
  10. difficult or labored breathing
  11. difficult or painful urination
  12. dizziness
  13. fainting
  14. false or unusual sense of well-being
  15. fast, slow, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  16. fear or nervousness
  17. fever with or without chills
  18. frequent urination
  19. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  20. headache
  21. inability to speak
  22. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  23. lower back or side pain
  24. nosebleeds
  25. numbness or tingling in the face, arms, or legs
  26. restlessness
  27. severe or sudden headache
  28. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  29. slurred speech
  30. sore throat
  31. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  32. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  33. swollen glands
  34. temporary blindness
  35. tightness in the chest
  36. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  37. trouble with breathing
  38. twitching, twisting, or uncontrolled repetitive movements of the tongue, lips, face, arms, or legs
  39. unusual bleeding or bruising
  40. unusual tiredness or weakness
  41. vision problems
  42. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe
  43. wheezing

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. bigger, dilated, or enlarged pupils (black part of the eye)
  3. change in consciousness
  4. confusion
  5. diarrhea
  6. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  7. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  8. loss of consciousness
  9. nausea
  10. overactive reflexes
  11. panic
  12. physical attempt to injure
  13. restlessness
  14. sweating
  15. violent actions
  16. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Abdominal or stomach discomfort
  2. bruising
  3. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  4. drowsiness
  5. dry mouth
  6. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  7. hair loss
  8. headache
  9. hives or welts
  10. indigestion
  11. itching
  12. large, flat, blue, or purplish patches in the skin
  13. loss of appetite
  14. muscle pain
  15. passing of gas
  16. redness of the skin
  17. skin rash
  18. sleeplessness
  19. stomach fullness or discomfort
  20. trouble sleeping
  21. unable to sleep
  22. unpleasant taste

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
