Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Crusting, patches, or sores inside the nose
  2. dryness, itching, redness, swelling, tenderness, or other signs of nasal irritation not present before use of this medicine
  3. headaches (severe or continuing)
  4. nosebleeds
  5. runny nose
  6. sneezing
  7. stuffy nose

Less common

  1. Bloody or cloudy urine
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  5. difficulty with breathing or wheezing (severe)
  6. dizziness
  7. fever
  8. frequent urge to urinate
  9. head congestion
  10. loss of sense of smell
  11. sore throat
  12. swollen glands

Rare

  1. Hair loss
  2. hives, itching, or skin rash
  3. increased thirst
  4. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  5. taste disturbances
  6. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. blurred vision
  4. confusion
  5. diarrhea
  6. difficulty with swallowing
  7. fainting
  8. increased sweating
  9. irregular heartbeats
  10. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  11. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  12. pain or tightness in the chest
  13. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  14. rapid weight gain
  15. seizures
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness
  17. unusual weight gain or loss

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. joint pain

Less common or rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. body aches
  3. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  4. constipation
  5. flushing
  6. mental depression
  7. muscle pain
  8. nausea
  9. unusual tearing of the eyes
  10. upset stomach

Incidence not known

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  2. hearing loss
  3. trouble hearing
  4. trouble seeing

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
