For example, Mayo Clinic researchers were among the first to recognize microsatellite instability (MSI) in cancer cells. Those researchers developed a microsatellite instability test to find Lynch syndrome in people with colon cancer. MSI testing helps identify which cancers are most likely to be caused by Lynch syndrome.
