Research

Mayo Clinic is an international leader in lymphoma research. The Hematologic Malignancies Program conducts research related to lymphoma and other blood and bone marrow cancers.

Cancer research is conducted in coordination with the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center receives funding from the U.S. National Cancer Institute and is designated as a comprehensive cancer center. This designation recognizes the institution's scientific excellence and multidisciplinary resources focused on cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Areas of research include:

  • Designing and conducting clinical trials for more effective and less toxic treatments for all forms of lymphoma.
  • Developing the first genetic test to help guide the diagnosis and treatment of people with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
  • Understanding who is more likely to have a relapse of lymphoma and why.
  • Finding ways to improve quality of life after lymphoma treatment.
