Research

Cancer research is conducted in coordination with Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center receives funding from the U.S. National Cancer Institute and is designated as a comprehensive cancer center. This designation recognizes the institution's scientific excellence and multidisciplinary resources focused on cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center is defining new boundaries in cancer research, including the use of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for cancers that have spread to the lining of the abdominal cavity. Mayo Clinic surgeons also are refining the use of robotic surgery for cytoreduction surgery (CRS). Robotic surgery often reduces hospital stays and recovery time for many people.
