Biographical summary
Micah J. Nieboer, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute. He further advanced his training through a five-month traveling fellowship, visiting internationally recognized leaders in shoulder and elbow surgery across North America and Europe.
Dr. Nieboer takes a comprehensive approach to shoulder and elbow care for patients across all age groups, offering both operative and nonoperative treatments tailored to each patient’s
needs. His clinical focus includes complex elbow surgery, utilizing both arthroscopic and open techniques to manage elbow trauma, fractures, instability, stiffness, ligament and tendon injuries, and elbow arthritis,
including complex primary and revision total elbow arthroplasty.
He also provides comprehensive shoulder care, including management of shoulder trauma, instability, rotator cuff injuries, and shoulder arthritis, utilizing advanced techniques in
subscapularis-sparing shoulder replacement, as well as multiple reconstruction options for complex primary and revision shoulder arthroplasty.
Dr. Nieboer is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and is actively involved in research, with numerous peer-reviewed publications in shoulder and elbow surgery. His work has been presented nationally and internationally and recognized with multiple Bernard F. Morrey Awards from the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons for research in primary and revision total elbow arthroplasty. He is an active member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the Global Elbow Network, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
