Biographical summary
Dr. Kindel joined Mayo Clinic's Pediatric Cardiology team in June of 2025 as part of the Pediatric Heart Transplant, Advanced Heart Failure and Ventricular Assist Device Programs. Dr. Kindel previously led the Pediatric Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplant, and Ventricular Assist Device Program at Children's Wisconsin in Milwaukee from 2015 to 2025 and the Pediatric Heart Transplant Program at Omaha Children's Hospital Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska from 2013 to 2015. Dr. Kindel has focused his career on the care of children and young adult patients with various forms of heart failure including complex congenital heart disease, children with failing single ventricle physiology, genetic and acquired cardiomyopathies, neuromuscular cardiology and cardio-oncology.
He has been active in research, program development and in leadership roles throughout the field of advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation.
