Saad Kenderian, MBChB, is an assistant professor and consultant in the departments of oncology, medicine, immunology, and molecular medicine at Mayo Clinic. He has a medical degree from the University of Baghdad School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology/oncology at McLaren Regional Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in immunotherapy and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy, where he was involved in the development of CAR T cells for leukemia and lymphoma. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology, and has received several awards and honors for his clinical and research achievements, including the NCCN Young Investigator Award, the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Award in Cancer Research, and the Mayo Clinic Innovation Award.

He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters on topics such as CAR T cell therapy, hematological malignancies, and bone marrow transplantation. He leads a translational research program that focuses on T cell biology and engineering, and the development of novel cellular therapies for hematological and solid tumors.

Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy has recently emerged as a potent and potentially curative form of immunotherapy in hematological malignancies. The research interests of Saad Kenderian and his team center on the development, application and optimization of novel engineered T-cell therapies for the treatment of cancer.
