Biographical summary
Dr. Andrew Zganjar is a fellowship-trained urologic oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer.
His clinical practice focuses on non-muscle-invasive and muscle-invasive disease, including the management of bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG)-unresponsive bladder cancer, bladder-preserving treatment strategies and robotic-assisted radical cystectomy.
He is committed to delivering evidence-based, multidisciplinary care that optimizes both cancer outcomes and quality of life.
Dr. Zganjar has expertise in the management of high-risk bladder cancer, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans. His practice includes intravesical therapies for BCG-unresponsive disease, bladder preservation when appropriate, and robotic-assisted radical cystectomy with urinary diversion, including neobladder reconstruction for selected patients.
He also treats prostate, kidney, testicular, penile and upper tract urothelial cancers using advanced robotic and open surgical techniques.
"Every patient I meet has a unique story, and every cancer diagnosis brings its own questions, concerns and uncertainties," says Dr. Zganjar. "My goal is to help patients understand their diagnosis, reduce some of the anxiety that comes with it and make treatment decisions together. The most rewarding part of my work is building those relationships and helping patients move forward with confidence, knowing they have a plan that's right for them."
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Zganjar is actively involved in research. His interests include novel therapies for non-muscle-invasive and invasive urothelial carcinoma, clinical trials, and strategies to improve access to high-quality cancer care. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and serves as Residency Advising Director for Mayo Clinic in Florida's Department of Urology.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Zganjar enjoys spending time at the beach, exploring new restaurants and cuisines, and cheering on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
