Biographical summary
John Strickler, M.D., is a board-certified medical oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Florida. He specializes in the treatment of pancreatic, gastroesophageal and colorectal cancers. At Mayo Clinic, he holds
leadership roles in gastrointestinal (GI) oncology and clinical cancer research.
Dr. Strickler earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Washington and his oncology
fellowship at Duke University. Before joining Mayo Clinic, he spent 15 years at Duke University, where he was a professor of medicine and held leadership roles in precision cancer medicine and GI oncology research.
Dr. Strickler is a clinical investigator who has led more than 70 clinical trials, including a study that resulted in the first FDA-approved therapy for HER2-positive metastatic colorectal cancer. He has
published in leading medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine. His goal is to develop well-tolerated, highly effective cancer treatments that are personalized to each patient.
