Rolland C. Dickson, M.D., is a gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of advanced and complex liver disease, with clinical interests in alcohol associated liver disease, autoimmune hepatitis, liver cancer and liver transplantation.
Dr. Dickson cares for patients with cirrhosis, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcoholic hepatitis, hepatic encephalopathy and other acute and chronic liver conditions. He evaluates patients for liver transplantation and provides care across the transplant journey as part of Mayo Clinic's multidisciplinary liver transplant practice.
As a member of Mayo Clinic's Liver Transplant Program and Hepatobiliary Clinic, Dr. Dickson collaborates with specialists across disciplines to develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
Dr. Dickson is board-certified in community internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His advanced hepatology training included visiting scholar experiences at the Liver Unit at King's College London and at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He performs gastrointestinal procedures including colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Dickson contributes to liver disease research and professional activities as the associate chair for transplant and a member of the Project ECHO community. His approach emphasizes coordinated specialty care, clear communication and helping patients understand their condition and treatment options.
