The secret to Mayo Clinic, if there is a secret, is the collection of people that come together for the same mission.
The sense of belonging started very early on and it started with little interactions.
I see people that I've never seen before and they say hi or I'll see people I see every day, in the hallway, and they'll stop to ask how my week's been, how my shift was.
From day one, I feel accepted. I felt welcome, which, isn't always the case with veterans.
Marcos Freitas Gudmundson:
We do not find very often, organizations that respect you as who you are and they look for your talents without having any kind of prejudice. I just want to highlight that, I'm happy to be in an organization where they respect me as who I am.
Pa Kou Lee:
You're welcome here. Doesn't matter what religion, what background, Black, White, Hmong, Asian, anything. You are welcome here!
Coming here and seeing how this diversity is celebrated, it makes me feel that I want to do better, that I want to get to a better position, after I finish my fellowship.
It's just a very special place where everybody can be themselves.
One of the things that drew me to Mayo was the values of Mayo.
Walter Franz III:
Our motto of "The needs of the patient come first," It's what we truly believe.
And it's not just written in print, it's not just on a, on a paper writing for us to read, but, I live it every single day.
It's not about what I do. It's about what we can do for others.
And every day you make a difference. You help patients, no matter what your role is,
We have these RICH TIES, is really what it is. Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Healing, Teamwork. And to be able to do all of those things and have our patients be the center of what we do each and every day was something that I knew that I had to be a part of.
I personally feel the way my success and growth has been prioritized, is a reflection of how Mayo Clinic treats and accepts its employees. So that's the sense of belongingness and that's why I choose to stay here and make this my home.
I always recommend where Mayo Clinic as a great place to work. And if you want to feel like you're part of a family, Mayo Clinic is the place.
The feeling I get, when I'm driving home, is that I've done something that directly affects the experience of our patients here at Mayo Clinic in a positive way.
Marcos Freitas Gudmundson:
I feel really proud to work in an organization that is seeking everyday hope for our patients; cure; healing. And I feel really honored to be part of that.
I've got friends worldwide there that are asking me, you are really at Mayo Clinic. Yes, I am. Happy. Please come.
This place is a difference maker and we need to have more places like this. So I'm here to stay.
