Research
Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center is defining new boundaries in colon cancer research. Our doctors are researchers, which means you have access to tomorrow’s treatments today.
Our colon cancer research includes:
- Chemotherapy options after surgery. This study is finding the best chemotherapy treatment for people after surgery by checking for any remaining cancer cells, called circulating tumor DNA, in the blood.
- MUC1 vaccine. Researchers are testing a vaccine targeting the MUC1 protein in people with a history of precancerous polyps to see if it can prevent colon cancer.
- Endoscopy with indigo carmine. Researchers are testing the use of a blue dye mixed with standard colonoscopy prep to see if it improves polyp detection in the right colon.
