Michael W. Cullen, M.D., is a general cardiologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Cullen sees patients with the following conditions:

  • Coronary artery disease, including patients with heart attacks, coronary artery stents and prior heart bypass operations
  • Abnormal heart rhythms, such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia
  • Congestive heart failure, including heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
  • Valvular heart disease, such as aortic stenosis and mitral regurgitation
  • Hyperlipidemia and familial hypercholesterolemia
  • Symptoms suggestive of possible heart disease, including chest pain, palpitations and shortness of breath

In addition to seeing patients in the clinic and hospital, Dr. Cullen interprets echocardiograms and stress tests. He performs transesophageal echocardiograms and cardioversions.

Dr. Cullen is also an active researcher and educator. He lectures regularly at educational meetings on topics covering the gamut of general cardiology. He teaches at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine and has received multiple grants for his work in educational research.
