Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. decreased appetite
  3. dizziness
  4. fever
  5. headache
  6. itching or skin rash
  7. loss of appetite
  8. nausea and vomiting
  9. nervousness
  10. pounding in the ears
  11. slow or fast heartbeat
  12. swelling of the feet or lower legs

Less common

  1. Clay colored stools
  2. confusion
  3. dark urine
  4. defects in intelligence, short-term memory, learning ability, and attention
  5. stomach pain or tenderness
  6. unusual tiredness or weakness
  7. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Burning, tingling, numbness or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  2. change or loss of taste
  3. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  4. hair color changes
  5. sensation of pins and needles
  6. stabbing pain
  7. swelling of the eyes

Less common

  1. Change in color vision
  2. changes in skin coloring
  3. darkening or lightening of skin color
  4. decrease in vision
  5. difficulty seeing at night
  6. double vision, seeing double
  7. dry mouth
  8. hair loss, thinning of hair
  9. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  10. irritation, soreness, or swelling of the mouth
